General
After leaving Stonewall in 1962, Pat moved to a number of places: Winnipeg, Koostatak, Stonewall and then to Petersfield, Manitoba, where she has resided for the last 37 years.
Pat retired from work in June 2004 and has spent the last two years enjoying her time in BC with her sister Betty Ann, her husband Phil, and brother Brian and his wife Vel. Pat has made numerous trips to Calgary, where her daughter Barbara Turnbull, husband Lyndon and grandchildren Drayton (9), Evan (3) and Macey (1) live. She also enjoys spending time in Clandeboye, MB with her son Allan, his wife Carol and grandsons Calvin (20) & Tyler (18). Pat's daughter Brenda and grandson Konnor (10) live in Petersfield, Manitoba and daughter Bonnie, with husband Michael and grandchildren Matthew (11) & Nicholas (10) live in Teulon, Manitoba. Life is good and health is fantastic.
Family
In 1962, Pat married Lorne Croy and they were blessed with 4 children: daughters Brenda, Barbara and Bonnie and son Allan. Pat remarried in 1990 (Jim deceased in 2004) and Lorne has also remarried. They now have 8 wonderful grandchildren (7 grandsons and 1 granddaughter). Pat's father, Bob, is deceased and her mother Eileen who was 90 on May 7 2006 lives in a personal care home in Selkirk, but is hoping to get back to her home town, Stonewall and Rosewood.
Work History
After SCI Pat attended Success Business College and worked at Grey Goose/Thiessen Bus Lines for 3 years until the children started to arrive. She never thought the fun she had at Kinsmen Lake as a child, would bring her so much satisfaction as a swim instructor/lifeguard and then Manager of the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School Pool for 30 years. Her position required quite a few courses in Pool Management, Financial Budgets, Workplace Health & Safety, WHMIS, Standard First Aid, CPR, Computers, Emergency Services.
Education
After Stonewall High School, Pat attended Success Business College and then took many courses required for work.
Hobbies and Interests
Pat has been a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross since 1960. It began with being a Red Cross Swim Instructor, and then Blood Donor clinics (71 donations so far), until Canadian Blood Services replaced the Red Cross.
She has been sent to numerous emergency disaster situations, and has attended numerous Provincial & Municipal disaster meetings. When her Husband Jim's health started to deteriorate she became a part of the Palliative Care Program in Selkirk and has continued that with her Mom, who is in Tudor's Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Awards
Pat has received a number of certificates over the years for volunteer work with The Canadian Red Cross, St John's, Manitoba Curling Association.
Memberships and Organizational Interests
Pat is still involved with the Red Cross (Manitoba Division) and the Red Cross Branch in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Pat has been an active member of the Petersfield Curling Club for 36 years and is a member of the Petersfield Community Club, holding various positions. Pat believes that any community is only as good as the volunteers in the community.
