Stonewall Collegiate Institute
1956 - 57
Grade 12 Class
Beverlee Grantham

Bev loves running so much she may often be seen running around the race track. She enjoys studying --- airplanes. Her future is undecided --- a business course, perhaps.
Bill Mann

Here is the sport of all sports. Bill is an excellent student, and won the Governor General's Medal last year. He has a wide circle of friends, and was president of our class this year. Future --- engineer or hardware merchant.

Where is he now?
Andrew Kolach

A quiet boy but an ardent hunter and fisherman. He is a brilliant student and next year should find him continuing his education. Andrew is one of the boys with an ancient jalopy to transport him, but it's usually not in working order.
Luella Edwards

Lou is a girl who enjoys excitement, consequently she is known as the "Smash Kid." She plans to be an "Angel in white" (nurse), but business prospects look good in California --- too good to pass them up.
Verna Jaremowich

Verna is our "teach," and she often acts as a counsellor to the problems of the girls in the class, especially the" love-lorn" ones. Has she had experience? I wonder. Although she's a tall girl, she has a passion for small cars.
Don Campbell

Here is an energetic, hardworking student who makes consistently good marks, in all his subjects. He is popular with his class mates, and usually has a witty comment to make about any remark. He will likely continue farming.
Beverley Harcus

Bev is a fine student, a friendly and popular girl. She is active in sports, and all social affairs. It seems that her favorite farm animal is a dog, but her pet peeve is the barking, especially at 3 a.m. Her future includes nurse's training at General Hospital.
Kay Hughes

"Kitty" is always mewing --- some people kindly call it singing. She keeps the class awake with questions and answers. Next year her wish is to attend United College.
Bob Buck

"Boot" has always attended Stonewall School (who suffered the most?). He is a Queen's Scout, and takes great pride in his curling ability. He manages to "have his thumb in every school pie".
Shirley Brennan

Shirley is the most controversial figure in the room --- she is the originator of many arguments. We find it amazing that such a "petite" person could have so much energy (and so many muscles). No wonder she never hesitates to speak her mind. She will be a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital.
Violet Go

Vi is the future Liberace. She is quiet, but when you get to know her you'll see how full of hidden fun she is. She, too, plans to be a nurse, training at St. Boniface Hospital. We know she'll take good care of all her patients.
Gary Cameron

This lad came to us from Stony Mountain (his term was up there). His favorite school occupation is raising and lowering desks, preferably not his own. His motor bike may be heard at any hour of the day, whenever he decides to go home. We don't know what his future is, but he'd enjoy being a beauty-contest judge.
Bernice Bowler

Bernice likes wrestling (Farmer-Boy is her favorite). She is quiet (usually), but has such a sense of humor she often laughs to herself. We envy the "boss" who has her as an efficient secretary.
Lorne Hill

Lorne is another farm boy, who came to us in Grade 9. He is an excellent sportsman (as many girls will tell you) partaking in most school activities. We wouldn't care to hazard a guess as to his future.
Joanne Buck

Joanne is a fun loving blonde, who is especially fond of riding in old cars. At the present she is a "Hello Girl" (Telephone 0perator). She insists she doesn't listen in on conversations, but the temptation would be so great ---.
